The High Line

Something I've loved about being away from a big city for so long (and yes, I know I'm living in the capital city of New Zealand right now, but big city it ain't..) is the open space, clean fresh air, and did I mention open space? And as much as I'm longing for that city lifestyle again, somehow I think that once I'm in NYC, I might spend a fair bit of time here..

Scenic Tour - 1st Stop : The High Line

I hadn't heard of this place until a couple of weeks ago when a few different friends visited and I saw some photos. It's so far removed from how I've always imagined New York, yet seems to fit in perfectly. It's located in the Meat Packing District on the West Side, running between Gansevoort Street to 34th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, and it's open from 7 in the morning until 10 at night - amazing views not just of the Hudson river, but also of people getting busy at The Standard. It's up and away from the busy streets below. No traffic. No pedestrian crossings. Not so much noise. Heaven.
